The Durham Chamber of Commerce welcomes our newest addition to the team, Ramsay Ritchie, as our VP of Public Policy and Strategic Initiatives.
Ramsay is a passionate Durhamite, community advocate, and policy professional dedicated to advancing equitable growth. He joins the Chamber from Elevate, an energy and environmental justice nonprofit, where he advised municipalities and community organizations on affordable housing, community-centered program design, and innovative financing strategies.
Before working at Elevate, Ramsay served as Wayne County’s first sustainability officer, launching initiatives that combined environmental goals with economic growth.
Deeply engaged in Durham’s civic life, Ramsay serves on the Planning Commission and as Vice-Chair of the Durham Open Space and Trails Commission. He is also a Board Member of the Durham Public Schools Foundation and Advocacy Co-Chair for the Hope Valley Elementary PTA.
Ramsay brings to his role a strong belief that Durham has the tools, talent, and culture to become a national model for equitable growth. He is committed to fostering a vibrant business ecosystem that builds community wealth instead of displacing it, that creates opportunities for institutions like public schools to flourish, and that invests in creative solutions to challenging problems.
He is excited to support the Chamber’s mission to connect, grow, and lead the business community in helping Durham thrive.
