Denise Barnes is the Regional Diversity Manager at LeChase Construction Services, LLC. The Durham Chamber is proud to partner with LeChase and grateful for their support in our efforts to foster a healthy business climate. In her own words, she shares why she decided to be one of our Ambassadors...
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Now that I am an empty nester, I enjoy social activities, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
How long have you been a Durham Chamber Ambassador? I am in my second year.
Why did you choose to become an Ambassador? Service is in my heart and being an Ambassador acting as a representative for my city is rewarding and another great way to give back to the Durham community and meet new people.
How has being an Ambassador shaped your perspective of Durham? It has allowed me to see the bigger Durham. I grew up in Durham and it's amazing to go to so many places I've never been before as an Ambassador. I once would reference other cities for local businesses, entertainment or restaurants, but with the many options in Durham now, I am able to stay right in my hometown and I love it!
What has been the most rewarding part of being a Chamber Ambassador? Connecting with people from all over the city and being able to provide service to the community in which I work and live.
