Existing Industry
Significant job creation and capital investment in Durham are not only the result of new companies forming or relocating to Durham, but from the expansion of our existing industry base as well. In 2011, more than half of the economic development activity throughout Durham County came from expansion plans undertaken by current employers.
Each year, Chamber staff conducts 80 to 100 existing industry surveys with businesses of all sizes and types to gather data on topics such as talent attraction and retention, cost and access of business services, infrastructure, public policy, and other pertinent topics. The aggregated information is used to assist the Chamber, City and County in crafting economic development strategies and tactics. Also, staying abreast of the needs of local employers helps Chamber staff make timely business connections with community partners. If your company is interested in participating in this survey, please contact Ted Conner at 919.328.8750 or tconner AT durhamchamber DOT org.
