Gov. Pat McCrory announced the appointment of new N.C. Department of Transportation Secretary Nick Tennyson earlier this week. Prior to his appointment, Tennyson served as chief deputy secretary under then NCDOT Secretary Tony Tata. Tennyson served two terms as Mayor of Durham, vice president of the Home Builders Association of Durham and vice president of government relations with the Durham Chamber.
With the appointment of Tennyson, Gov. McCrory’s administration now includes two leaders with Durham ties. In 2012, Gov. McCrory named former Durham City Councilman Thomas Stith to head his transition team and later his Chief of Staff.
