A while back, I had the opportunity to listen to Diane Ravitch, an educational author, activist and historian. She shared her thoughts on education reform. In summary, she believes in order to to improve education in this country, we need a strong, highly-respected education profession; a rich curriculum in the arts and sciences, available in every school for every child; and assessments that gauge what students know and can do, instead of mindless tests prepping for bubble tests. She also believes that we need a government that is prepared to change the economic and social conditions that interfere with children’s readiness to learn. For more info, click here.
