The Durham Chamber welcomes the arrival of Google Fiber as another step in enhancing Durham’s high speed internet infrastructure. The Chamber has seen years of diligent work come to fruition: from the announcement of AT&T as a North Carolina Next Generation Network (NCNGN) provider in 2014 to the introduction of Frontier Communications’ higher speed broadband capability.

The Chamber has been forward-thinking in this discussion including supporting the East Durham Streetscape Project on the corner of Angier and Driver and facilitating the installation of conduit to allow this portion of Durham to take advantage of future high speed fiber.

The broadband landscape of Durham is swiftly changing and the Chamber will continue to advocate for the digital inclusion that creates new platforms for economic development and new pathways of using technology to improve the lives of Durham residents.
