It was all about community at the Grand Opening of Durham’s newest Walmart location!  About 100 people attended the event held Wednesday, October 26. City Councilman Mike Woodard joined the Walmart family for the official ribbon cutting ceremony as well as other business and community leaders.

Festivities included remarks by Walmart leadership, presentation by the Hillside High School ROTC and a festive cheer by Walmart employees. Long-time Walmart employees (15 or more years with the company) were asked to cut the ribbon to officially open the store.

The new store employs 200 individuals and is environmentally friendly, featuring skylights and floors made from recycled materials. The new Walmart is located at 1010 Martin Luther King Parkway.
